Strategies for Gender Equality and Poverty Reduction Through Sustainable Fisheries Development and Ecotourism Related Enterprises
Samochima Interim Conservation Trust aims at building consensus on strategies for development of fish industry and ecotourism related enterprises. The project will solve the upsurge in commercial fishing in the Okavango Panhandle and decline of such resources is not desirable as it is the livelihood of the people in the Okavango area, especially women. The envisaged legal entity will empower and accord the community (especially women) a chance to fully realise their potential allowing them to fully address issues related to HIV/AIDS, gender, poverty and sustainable use of fishery resources.
