Using Indigenous Knowledge System to Promote Conservation of Natural Resources and Enhancing the Socio-economic, Cultural and Environmental Heritage of the Madandume Community
Madandume is renowned as the socio-economic and centre of what has since emerged to be known as Tutume village, a Sub-District headquarters that provides a myriad of cultural and government services. It is part of a community that has evolved within the Tutume river and its catchment. These natural features are important in influencing the socio-economic, cultural and environmental heritage of the community.

The project aims to enhance /develop the socio-economic, environmental and cultural heritage of the Madandume community and their capacity to actively participate in the socio-economic, environmental and cultural heritage initiatives through the provision of appropriate training in management and monitoring of biodiversity and the cultural heritage, as well as creating/building a repository (Museum) of the traditional knowledge systems for posterity. The objectives will be met through dialogue with the various stakeholders and the community at large.
