Preservation and Enhancement of Springs and Waterways and Conservation of the Hillside with a view to producing an Agrotourism Enterprise in Cocorite.
The residents of Cocorite experience flooding, damage to property, destruction to infrastructure and exist in an unhealthy and unsafe environment. This is as a result of the unstructured, unplanned misuse of the hillside and the effects of deforestation at higher levels.

The project aims to prepare a proposal to conserve soil loss which creates blockages to rivers and roads by implementing conservation techniques on the hillside and constructing waterways to assist in the disposal of wastewater. It will also create ?grow zones? where various ornamental seed trees will be cultivated for trade.

The project will be spearheaded by the STJEF in collaboration with Cocorite Community Safety and Enhancement Group and the various relevant government agencies responsible. Assistance from several private agencies who operate within the area will be sourced since they are also affected by the problem.

The project will take place in Waterhole and Harding Place Cocorite. On completion of the project it is expected that
? Residents will see a decrease in the incidence of flooding and landslides.
? Establishment of a structured plan for community management.
? Establishment of agro tourism industry.
