Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
A blend of both indigenous and scientific knowledge will be applied in the overall management of the reserve. Data collected on biodiversity and Socio-economic about the reserve and the surrounding communities will be made public in meetings and workshops after indoor discussion with stakeholders or concerned persons. The communities will be part of the data collection and take part in decision making.
Gender Focus
At all phases of the project, gender parity will be considered. This project will benefit both men and women of the surrounding communities, school going children and university students rather than targeting one gender in particular. For instance, women are probably the main fire wood collectors but they do not poach. So our support for livelihood activities options will depend on the brief socio-economic study report that will guide our intervention.
