To mitigate the environmental climate challenges of land degradation and sustainable farmland management of 100 vulnerable small holder farmers using sedentary approach of agriculture systems in Port Loko district of northern Sierra Leone
The project caters for the afforestation of hectares of deforested farmlands with economic tree crops such as cashew for smallholders; to increase livelihood capabilities of small holders farmers through inter-cropping of annual food crops and livestock rearing in a sedentary approach.
The project will also establish a village savings and loans scheme as a sustainable income generation and utilization activity among the beneficiaries.
The project will include various activities such as baseline studies to be conducted within the targeted communities, sensitization meetings of stakeholders, identification of beneficiaries, provision of input supplies, establishment and management of tree crop plantations and capacity building of beneficiaries on income generation schemes. 100 beneficiaries of which 70% are women will benefit from the proposed action and 80 hectares of tree crops will be planted.

Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
A baseline study will be carried out in the intended chiefdoms of the project. During the baseline studies, community stakeholders, women, men and youths will be involved and their roles clearly understood. This will enable an informed decisions to be taken about their roles and unbalance and to give detail information about the studies carried out.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
During the implementation, progress of project activities will be collected and documented for reporting. The successes of the project will be outlined and beneficiaries will be interviewed to give their feelings about the project. These stories will be documented and reported to the donors as lesson learnt during the implementation
