Project Characteristics and Results
Notable Community Participation
The communities actually owned the umbrella organization and therefore members of the different affiliated bodies have been part of the design stage of the project through series of meetings and consultations. It is expected that the project will be implemented by the different women groups and that it will build on previous interventions managed by the executive of the umbrella body with the coordinator acting in the capacity of a project manager for project.
Capacity - Building Component
The organization is highly receptive to building capacity of its staff and they willing to request for assistance to achieve this. eWomen has regular volunteers and staff; implements activities; and has good knowledge of waste management, project design/evaluation and implementation. Our major challenge is that we do not have sustainable funding. Fundamental areas to continue to strengthen include strategic planning, annual budgeting, project design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, fundraising, community mobilization, advocacy, effective communication with stakeholders and maintaining transparent and accountable internal governance structures.
