Supporting Preservation of Indigenous Culture for Enhanced Conservation of Biodiversity and Improved Livelihood in Ntambu
Main Project Objective:
The main aim of the project is to support the consolidated preservation of cultural practices of Indigenous Lands (ILs) of Ntambu chiefdom as essential means for the conservation of biodiversity in local forest ecosystems and as a constituent part for improving local livelihoods.
Specific Objectives:
1. Support for increased protection and recognition of indigenous cultural heritage and practices
that are contributing to conservation of forest ecosystems.
2. To contribute to enhanced local livelihoods through socio-economic empowerment of local and
indigenous peoples.
Expected Results:
1. Heritage sites, including the royal grave sites for chiefs are up-graded and protected.
2. Traditional sites for conducting the Mukaanda and Nkunka ceremonies are developed and
protected.
3. Increased knowledge and awareness about the importance for the protection of heritage sites and
preservation of local culture.
4. Increased biodiversity conservation and cultural preservation in the area.
5. Empowered local and indigenous peoples.
6. Improved local livelihood and socio-economic status of the indigenous local peoples is enhanced.
