Food Production in Motion- Reducing Food Insecurity One Community at a Time
The goal of the Food Production in Motion project is to introduce and facilitate sustainable climate-smart agro-ecology in urban settings. Piloted to its full expression in Arima, this project was developed to counteract the challenge that current accessible produce was perceived to be laden with pesticide, and generally cultivated via ?unhealthy? practices; an issue identified via surveying community members within the district.
The objectives to be implemented from September 2019 include:
(1) building capacity so that at least 300 community members (adults and youth) have improved knowledge and practical skill sets to grow produce via ?healthier techniques?, and
(2) facilitating production and monthly sale of this produce at discounted prices to the community.
