Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
In order for the outcomes of this project to reach a wide and diverse audience, the following awareness raising measures will be put in place: (i) radio, print and TV media will be asked to cover as many as possible of the project activities and the various steps of the CPS development; (ii) there will be online presence through the BLB website and social media tools; (iii) articles will be produced and sent to newsletters of partner agencies (e.g. DWNP bulletin, DEA newsletter, KCS newsletter) and UN agency publications; (iv) publications and information materials from this project (project leaflets/brochures etc.) will be disseminated widely within Botswana, especially within the priority landscape(s); (v) the final CPS document would further disseminate information about the knowledge, lessons learnt and good practices gained during this project. CBOs and NGOs (as the main GEF/SGP beneficiaries) will have responsibilities for increasing public awareness of the global environment (and of this project), while BirdLife Botswana would largely be responsible for this at a national level, with BirdLife International helping with the regional and global information dissemination. Beyond this, the NC, UNDP CO and the rest of the UN system are expected to widely disseminate the lessons learnt and knowledge products from this process.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
Lessons learned and good practices gained through the implementation of the project will be captured, shared and disseminated, by amongst others the following mechanisms: ? BirdLife also has excellent media relations and will ensure to use our networks to get news stories on the GEF and OP7 as well as use other social media ? Bilateral meetings with key partners and agencies (see Activity 1.2.1) will raise awareness to these partners, all of whom would be handed communication materials on the OP7, for further use in other issues of mutual interests to all project partners e.g. M & E, project management, lobbying of OP7 strategic goals, advocacy and communication etc) ? Workshops with participants and with TAG and NSC will be documented, and serve as excellent reference materials in future. ? Field verification visits will allow community members (especially local authorities, CBOs, VDCs, farmers as well as TAC etc.) to share information on their achievements, challenges, lessons learnt for OP7. As much as is possible we will invite to such forums current and former GEF grantees to promote networking among the SGP grantees, to encourage an exchange of experiences and to improve awareness and understanding about the SGP. All presentations and discussions will be recorded to capture knowledge exchanged and lessons. ? Production of Landscape Baseline Assessment process report, and the final CPS, will be done in such a manner as to collate as much of the lessons learnt, to guide not just the present CPS, but also serve as useful reference materials.
