Most youths in the community who are interested in sustainable agricultural practices have to deal with some constraints ranging from the lack of adequate credit facilities, no access to land to the lack of equipment needed for processing. In order to ensure the increased participation of youths in agriculture which is a necessity, trainings and seminars will be organized to afford them the technical know-how of practicing agriculture. We have chosen to give 107 registered youths comprising of 53 females and 54 males who will serve as our contracted farmers the opportunity to plant and cultivate rice, cassava and pepper on our leased 40 acres of land. They will be actively involved in the loosening of the soil systemically without destroying the land profile and the continuous weeding out of unwanted plants. They will also be responsible for the seeding, special watering, moving of plants, strategic irrigation, harvesting of the mature and storage. 50 of the registered youths comprising of 25 males and 25 females will also be employed to work in the processing unit once the processing equipment have been acquired. They will also be responsible for the wholesome packaging and quality branding of the product before dispatch.

Since Fenesu Farmers? Association established in 2018, the Association current value over SLL1 Billion. Indicating a strong growth and the Farm have 14 key administrators that includes 5 volunteers with technical expertise including Lawyers, Accountant and Bankers; 459 Farmers group and 50 Contracted Farmers. We have mastered innovative and modern ways of operating our farms to reduce cost, increase labour to achieve our sustainable development goal without compromising the quality of our products and land or bringing about a negative impact on the environment. We have also been attending agriculture seminars and trainings to improve our managerial, leadership and entrepreneurial acumen in order to run the farms successfully. We have done enough research on the suitable target markets and registered the organization with the appropriate legal entities. However, we do not have enough capital to acquire the necessary equipment needed to complete the agricultural value chain process. We will need to purchase rice and cassava processing equipment for the processing and packaging of our produce. The project also has been experiencing the spoilage of some of our produces due to the lacks of funds for a modern storage facility. The provision of adequate fund will go a long way to help the progress of the organization and the community at large

The project has minimized deforestation practices and land degradation by creating jobs and employing community members who solely practice hunting, lumbering and charcoal burning as a means of survival. Providing these people with an alternative means of survival and a more substantial income will go a long way to help in the development of the ecosystem services which will also contribute to air and water purification, carbon sequestration and storage. We believe that if we have the fund to construct processing facilities and purchase processing equipment, we will be able to employ more community members who will operate the equipment and those that will work within the processing facilitie

The project intend to empower a total of 459 members of Fenesu FBO, including 112 men, 160 women between the ages of 35-50 years and 187 youths (94 Males : 93 females) between the ages of 18-35 years for this project. 6.97% of the registered members are people with disabilities and most of the registered members with disabilities have been trained to make farm implements which are further aggregated and purchased from them. 54% of the men work will work as contracted farmers on the farm, 17% are trained to make farm implements and while the remaining 29% will work in the processing unit. 35% of the women work as contracted farmers, 38.8% are trained to make farm implements, 21% have been trained to produce aromantics (rice starch), garri, fufu, starch, chips, flour/bread and other staple crops while the remaining 5.2% will work in the processing unit. 57% of the youths work as contracted farmers, 27% will will be involved in the processing of produce to finished products, 11% of the youths will work with the quality control section while the remaining 5% will handle marketing and sales. This will empower and give opportunities to the men, women and youths in the society without neglecting those with disabilities in order to account for equality and non-discrimination. This has helped us so far to provide help to the vulnerable people in the society

The project will also contribute a quota to the community by engaging in sensitizing through schools and enlightening them on the importance of cultivating food crops. The construction of a modern storage facility will also help to reduce spoilage and increase the shelflife of produces and products. We also intend to go into the cultivation of cashew next twelve months. All these will bring about an increased generation of revenue and help us to yield maximal profit

To promote public awareness, we have started using the word of mouth form of advertisement and this will continually be increased through advertisement on radio, newspaper, and internet advertisement on Facebook,WhatsApp and other social media apps in order to enlighten people in all the villages within and outside Kissi tongi Chiefdom. We will also work on the distribution of fliers and handbills as print campaigns and distribute branded souvenirs like branded t-shirts, face caps and hand bands to different communities within the chiefdom
