Project activities in the periphery of the Conkouati-Douli National Park on the edge of the Coastline. It is a poaching hotspot. The local population is mainly made up of the Bantu. This zone contains mangroves threatened on the one hand by the cutting of wood for the smoking of fish and seafood and on the other hand by a seasonal dike which rises on the mouth and prevents the mixing of water. sea ??and fresh waters, creating brackish waters favorable to the dynamics of Mangroves. The project develops the following activities: * Reconvert bushmeat poachers in the lagoon fruit sector; * Develop pig production and sharecropping; * Ensure the revitalization of mangroves in peripheral village lands. More than (25) twenty five households are mobilized. The Project aims to convert poachers into the marketing of fresh seafood and lagoons with support in ice packs produced by the project in order to reduce deforestation of mangroves for the smoking of fish and fruits. sea. To be dammed seasonally at the mouth of the Kouilou river in the Atlantic Ocean with a view to the constitution of brackish water favorable to the revitalization of the mangroves; To produce and share-cropping pigs, in order to provide a new opportunity for income-generating activities.

Au Congo, le développement rural à travers l'action coopérative a donné un résultat mitigé eu égard à son accaparation par les leaders aux détriment des autres membres. L'approche de mise en ?uvre des micro-projets SGP a permis par l'entremise des engagements de toutes les parties prenantes à établir dans la mise en ?uvre, une meilleure répartition des intrants, une parfaite appropriation et un bon partage des bénéfices du Projet par tous les membres bénéficiaires de la subvention. Aussi cette méthode a permis sur le plan pratique de faire réduire à la fois la pauvreté et la pression sur la biodiversité.
Notable Community Participation
Before the project, young people lived mainly from poaching. As part of the Project, new opportunities have been offered in the development of sectors of income-generating activities compatible with the conservation of biodiversity.
