The Mboukou ICCA is located in the District of Epéna, with access by the Likouala river to herbs via the village of Dzéké. It is located in the Lac Télé Community Reserve. It contains favorite biotopes of large mammals (elephant and gorilla glades). It is the connecting point of the elephant migration corridors due east towards the protected areas of the DRC, via the crossing of the Oubangui river. The population of APAC is made up of indigenous peoples only. The Project aims to obtain an official delineation of this ICCA and to improve the living conditions of this community by reducing poverty and pressure on biodiversity. The activities of this project are: * Identify the traditional territory of the Mboukou village and facilitate the creation of an ICCA; * Ensure ongoing community monitoring, in the development of indigenous community ecotourism; * Develop income-generating activities compatible with the conservation of biodiversity. Community Eco monitors will ensure the continuous monitoring of the clearings identified with a view to developing the ecotourism product. Special supervision will be given to members of the association in charge of running the Pig Production and Matayge Unit; an official land tenure team will organize the allocation of land title to APAC Mboukou, IGAs compatible with biodiversity conservation, will be carried out in an environmentally friendly manner

Project Characteristics and Results
Policy Influence
Notable Community Participation
Before the project, young people lived mainly from poaching. As part of the Project, new opportunities have been offered in the development of sectors of income-generating activities compatible with the conservation of biodiversity.
