The project is titled Women Economic Empowerment through Climate Smart Agriculture in forest edge communities in Sierra Leone. it is put together in responses to challenges posed by climate change which does not only require technological changes on the part of many stakeholders, but also major behavioral shifts at various levels to help communities increase their adaptive capacity. As such, the overall goal of this project is to enhance gender-sensitive adaptive capacity of selected forest edged communities around the Coastal communities in Bonthe District, to climate change and strengthen women?s capacity to meaningfully engage in climate smart agriculture. The main objectives of the project are: To enhance production, income and nutrition-sensitive climate-resilient livelihoods among targeted communities: To increase opportunities for women to invest in climate-resilient agriculture at district and community levels; with following as expected results: 1: Production, income levels and nutrition sensitive livelihood diversification among 5 targeted communities improved; and, 2: 30 women?s capacity to invest and meaningfully participate in CSA is strengthened.

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
ComDI has 22 staff (14 male; 8 female); and 5 volunteer (2 male; 3 female). it is legally registered with Ministry of Finance & Economic Development (MOFED), with registration number NNGO/772/2020-2021. It has implemented several environmental projects and has the capacity to implement that task.
Notable Community Participation
During the Project Identification and Preparation stages, stakeholders consisting of youth, youth organizations and private sector groups who could participate in the formulation and contribute to the successful implementation of the Project have been identified. To generate buy in and strong project ownership, participatory workshop and individual face-to-face consultations were conducted to assess their needs, identify problems and suggest solutions, clearly define their role/involvement both during the Project preparation and Project implementation and ascertain their commitment to the objectives of the Project.
