Low energy access co-benefits for rural villages off the National Grid: Scaling-up the electrification of two more villages through the use of Solar generated power.
The project is a scaling-up of the Electrification Of Two Villages Through The Use Of Solar Generated Power, and focused on upgrading the light system in kabomboh village and expand to three more surrounding villages that are demanding light for their communities. These will be provided with 24 hours off-grid solar power electricity for better living conditions and helps to create jobs and businesses for youths and women entrepreneurs. In carrying out activities as planned financial and energy operator?s policies in the renewable energy sector for rural electrification has become the corner stone.

Primary Objectives:
To Scale-up the Electrification of Two Villages through the use of Solar Generated Power (SGP) that benefits over 400 households conprising 2,000 rural population in Karene District by end of 2023.

Specific Objectives
1.Scale-up the electrification of the piloted rural villages with 400 households to connect other surrounding communities with the needed system upgrade such as batteries, PV solar panels and high power inverter system, transmission line cables, poles and basic electrical materials needed to supply more villages in the area.
2.Complete the construction of the solar system training center to accommodate 100 trainees for maintenance and repairs skills acquisition. This center work is ongoing and its at 40% completion.
3.Upgrade and increase the numbers of trainees in the country
4. Provide Public Health and Sexual Reproductive Health services for beneficiary women and other women who seek casual labour from the project.

Gender Focus
Memorandum of Understanding will be developed and signed specifically for this project that will describe the roles of partners that will be involved in the implementation of the project. This MOU will set how the indigenous people will be involved in the implementation process regarding meetings, reporting, monitoring and evaluation and general coordination.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
The Project presents an opportunity to participate in building the foundation for a high-impact program to help thousands of deprived village communities in Sierra Leone. The project funding derived from both parties through several consultations with stake holders on how to raise funds to carry out the second phase of the project.
