Promoting cassava compact revolution using mobile cassava processing technology
Promoting cassava compact revolution using mobile cassava processing technology
The MIE ?Cassava Compact Revolution? initiative adopts the Mobile Cassava Processing Technology capable of processing cassava into gari at farm gate and at a considerably lower cost thus putting more money into both the farmers? purses and that of MIE. As the cultivation of cassava has increased exponentially in response to the Government?s food diversification policy, it certainly comes with its own challenges including potential environmental issues if robust and innovative measures are not put in place to address the emerging issues. This project?s main objective, therefore, is to create food self-sufficiency and a sustainable source of revenue for MIE. In the operating communities, it will create job opportunities for the many unemployed able-bodied men and women seeking jobs and thus injecting money into the communities and cushioning the impact of poverty. Through its environmental savvy strategy deployed to transform cassava peels into economically viable products, the Dried High-Quality Cassava Peel (DHQCP) used as domestic animal feed, the project will contribute to maintaining a healthy environment in the Lalehun Kovoma and other places that will be affected by the project operations.

Primary objective:
The primary objective is to add value to cassava products and manage its waste in another beneficial way(s).
Specific Objectives:
1.To adopt a Mobile Processing technology,
2.To transform cassava peels into usable and economically viable products, thus protecting the environment from pollution caused by cassava peels usually left to rot and produce an offensive odor around.

Gender Focus
Because of the size of the farm, a large number of women, in particular, will be required for weeding while the male youth do the daily maintenance and carry out harvesting when the time is due. b. Where unbalance is observed in the project community, particularly towards a certain group of people, the project will adopt a targeting method that deliberately favours such group of people.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
In regards to communicating the results of the project, success stories and lessons learned will be made available to other organizations implementing similar projects and this information will also be published on the GEF website. Moreover, success stories will be published in the national local newspaper and also brochures, which will be distributed across the country. Documentaries will also be created to establish benchmarks and share best practices.
