Tobago Fisheries Improvement Project (TRI/01/03)
The project aims, through research, to determine the size of the resource base, rate of renewal etc. and to set quotas, or by other means, to implement safeguards against over-exploitation and depletion. Particular emphasis will be given to an assessment of the local flying fish stocks, which is the most important commercial fish species of the Eastern Caribbean. A Public /Private co-operative effort is most practical - government has some data gathering equipment and experience to contribute and most of the data will be generated from private fisherfolk work activity.
