Tobago Youth Conference on Sustainable Development (TRI/02/04)
The Tobago Youth Conference on Sustainable was held during May 1-3, 2002 at Mt Irvine Hotel Tobago. It facilitated the participation of youths in the discussion of sustainable development issues using a multi-sectoral approach. Youth representatives made presentations on the sustainable development of different sectors, including environment, agriculture, church and community, coastal development, fisheries, health, HIV/AIDS, politics and livelihoods.
Working groups proposed recommendations aimed at achieving improved sustainability in the development of Tobago. Alongside the youth presentations, experts provided commentaries and/or presentations on sector issues. The conference was covered by the media.
