Community Management of Seamoss Harvest at Blanchisseuse
The collaborative approach in developing a community education programme and a strategy for sustainable harvesting of the seamoss resource at Blanchisseuse will utilize the skills and resources of a wide cross section of stakeholder groups and individuals and focuses on an array of variables including community enterprise development and environmental sustainability. Overall sustainability can be achieved in community involvement through planning and development for benefits to accrue to the community, through environmental practices and mechanisms that protect the natural resource base and through the maintenance and support of local cultural and heritage assets.
