Black male rhinoceros re-introduction in Khama Rhino Sanctuary
Black male rhinoceros re-introduction in Khama Rhino Sanctuary
This project seeks to re-introduce a black make rhino in Khama Rhino Sanctuary, as there is already a female black rhino that was brought into the sactuary by the Government. The re-introduction will establish a breeding pair in the sanctuary that will kick start a breeding programme as currently there are only five black rhinos in Botswana with four of them being in Mombo, Moremi Game Reserve. Black rhinos are under the threat of extenction worldwide. The bush clearing exercise will increase visibility of the rhinos during game drives and also ensure participation by the surrounding communities in the upkeep of the sanctuary. The cultural activities will supplement the tourism activities in the sanctuary. The business plan will ensure diversification of the tourism product by offering viable options and opportunities.
