Development and Conservation of Natural Resources along the Boro and Thamalakane Ephemeral River Basins
The project aims at raising environmental awareness and appreciation on the conservation of the Boro and Thamalakane river confluence popularly known as 'the beach' through a series of kgotla meetings and a workshop, and eventually reaching a consensus on solutions that will mitigate against uncontrolled littering and destruction of the riverine ecosystem. The dialogue will subsequently lead to the formation of a legal entity that will enable the community to actively acquire and develop 'the beach ' for an eco-tourism venture, accrue benefit thereof and contribute to sustainable management of the ephemeral river basin. Additionally, the community will undertake a tour to exchange and share information and ideas with the other Community Based Organisations, enabling them to learn about tourism ventures, activities and the required business skills to run/manage such business enterprises.
