The project aims at conserving and rehabilitating signinificant biodiversity in Kweneng North through halting land degradation and developing sustainable management systems for communities of Lephephe, Leologane, Boatlaname, Shadi Shadi and Sojwe. Within the rangeland area lie two important biodiversity areas of Thotayamarula (renowned for its richness in flora and active regeneration of tree species), and Dithopo Game Ranch (a game domestication demonstration ranch with relatively large composition of game animals due to the protection that it has been accorded by government). The community members will be actively involved in the planning process through an integrated step-by-step process to define land boundaries, zone the area and identify resource management options and/or priorities as well as enabling them to diversify their economic base, develop and market range products adopting appropriate natural resource management systems that incorporate the use of indigenous knowledge.
