"The National Steering Committee is a vital body for SGP implementation. The experience that each member brings to the committee has contributed to enhance the coordination mechanisms of the program and provide strong strategic inputs for all SGP activities in Cape Verde. The NSC has fulfilled its duty and will continue to support GEF SGP in formulation country strategic program in line with the national environmental challenges and priorities."

"The GEF SGP initiative has been a remarkable contribution to our community. Community members especially women were trained and have implemented modern hydroponic practices onto their land. To note as well that this project has also shown its local relevance by enabling women have a better relationship with the environment while earning extra income for their families."

"The Directorate General for the Environment considers SGP a crucial partner in the Government's strategy for involving civil society in overall management of the environment in the country because we have no ambition to be (as a institution) the only ones to address the management of the sector. The work of SGP over the past years has proved very important to strengthen the motivation of civil society organizations and has allowed them to contribute, and increase greater public awareness for the purpose of managing the environment. Further, the priority areas of the SGP are aligned with the priorities established in strategic country documents, such as the National Action Plan for the Environment - PANA II, the National Action Plan to combat Desertification - PAN LCD and Strategy and National Action Plan for Biodiversity – NBSAP."
